ESB Project Fitzwilliam
(2016-2022)
Location: Lower Fitzwilliam Street, Dublin 2
Scale: ~45,000–48,000 m² of office space across two main buildings
Architects: Grafton Architects + O’Mahony Pike
Contractor: PJ Hegarty
ESB Project Fitzwilliam was the major redevelopment of ESB’s historic headquarters on Lower Fitzwilliam Street, Dublin.
It is one of the most significant recent office developments in Dublin, notable for its sustainability, engineering complexity, and architectural ambition. A complete redevelopment of ESB’s 1960s headquarters, replacing four outdated blocks with a new, highly sustainable office campus that integrates restored Georgian houses and modern commercial buildings.
Over a six year period I recorded the building as staff left and it was demolished and then as the new building commenced and was completed in 2022. This is a small selection of the photographs.
